Well, we've made it. Our first blog, which we have been wanting to get started on for some time. There's so much great stuff happening in the world of food at the moment that's it's hard to know where to start. But the topic of most of my friends, family and customers lips is Master Chef. With 1.6 million viewers each night, it's not surprising. While I've been a little dissappointed with the way they've run the eliminations, I love everyhting else. It's great that so many are getting so interested in good food.
Being in the cafe and gourmet food industry, I meet a lot of people expecting us to be "food snobs". It's never been our philosopy, in fact, we beleive the exact opposoite. It's only food after all - we love it, we enjoy it and it should be fun and fabulous - but despite the combination of art and science that creates great food, it is not rocket science and we are not solving world peace, or world hunger for that matter.
So, we like to educate and explain food, get you excited about new ingredients and recipes, but not get too carried away with the mysticism and snobbiness that can pervade some gourmet food shops and restaurants.
That's why we are all loving Master Chef - they are making food acessible, making recipes simple and giving you and insight into what can be done by food loving amateurs with a little time and education.
